An incredible 48 hikers completed the Mears Foundation Seven Sisters Challenge, taking on either a half-marathon or full-marathon route across some of Southern England’s most spectacular scenery.
Starting at Eastbourne Pier, Mears colleagues, friends and family followed the seafront before beginning the demanding climb across the iconic Seven Sisters. After conquering all seven peaks, participants continued along the South Downs Way through the surrounding countryside and villages.
The half-marathon group crossed the finish line at the George Inn in Alfriston, while the full-marathon hikers continued all the way to Lewes, an outstanding achievement after a challenging day on the trail.
The event brought together first-time participants and returning Foundation supporters, creating a fantastic team atmosphere across both routes. Together, the hikers raised an amazing £11,200 for the Mears Foundation.
With every donation matched pound for pound by Mears Group, the challenge generated an incredible £22,400 in total. These funds will support community projects and initiatives nominated by Mears employees, helping the Foundation make a meaningful difference to vulnerable people across the communities in which we work.
