Mears Foundation: Snowdon ticked off the bucket list!

The Snowdon squad couldn't have wished for a more perfect day to greet them on their day of the challenge.

After the team of 20 intrepid hikers met up on the Friday evening, some of them having already had their first challenge of weekend – getting to Snowdon through the traffic – we were checked in and fully briefed for the challenge ahead the next day, the summit of Snowdon.

An early start took the strong squad up Snowdon via the PYG track. The group all set off together with the guidance of Adventure Café hike leaders keeping them on the right track, literally. Clear skies meant that when they did look up they had some amazing views.

Reaching the summit did not disappoint (apart from the queue to get the famous photo at the trig point) the views were stunning, reaching to the lake district and the coast beyond.

Back to the YHA via the Miners Track and all were down safe and sound with lifelong memories and friendships made along the way.

One of the hikers, Justyna Sarzynska commented:

Thanks again for giving me an opportunity to take a part in this amazing challenge, I’ve had a great time.  I’ve done the challenge for a few reasons: I always wanted to do Snowdon and see a bit of Wales, I wanted to meet more people who’s working for Mears, I also like to be active and the opportunity to raise some £ for charity is a bonus

Zafar Mohammed also said:

The only limits are the ones in your thoughts!!...its amazing what you can achieve as a team….give it a go.

Joanne McDonald commented:

The overall experience was a positive one. A challenging track but well worth the travel and effort. Such an uplifting feeling to complete the hike and experience the views with other colleagues and friends. Amazing that Mears supports staff to participate in these activities

The squad should be very proud of themselves giving up their time to support and fundraise for the Mears Foundation and to be able to tick Snowdon off their bucket list.

If you have a challenge, you would like to achieve whilst supporting the Mears Foundation in 2023 let us know. It could be a group hike as we have done in Snowdon or the Yorkshire Three Peaks in 2021 or it could be an individual challenge you have always wanted to tick off your list but need help funding or organising it – get in touch with Heather Tyrer by email on heather.tyrer@mearsgroup.co.uk
