Mears Group, working with the Mears Foundation, has committed to supporting activities that seek to address isolation and loneliness. Mears is asking every Mears operation to take action in their community to help tackle this serious and growing social issue.
Branches are getting involved by joining the Mears Befriending scheme, holding social events with other organisations such as Age UK who support isolated vulnerable people, vounteering at community cafes and lunch clubs etc.
The vision is to raise enough funds to re-furbish suitable community centres in conjunction with local charities, organise activities and encourage vouluteers to get involved with helping out. It may be possible to provide some assistance with community transport to help people access the centre.
As plans are developed further, updates on the progress will follow under the 'News' section.
