The raffle prize, a band to play at your event, recently appeared in Peterborough. The prize, originally won by Mears Care Manager Michelle was generously donated to Mandy who works at the Mears Peterborough repairs & maintenance branch, and has been busy fundraising to send her daughter and three young children on a holiday to Disneyland Paris.

Mandy's daughter Sam, was rushed into the critical care unit at Peterborough hospital in Jan 2015 after suffering a major pulmonary embolism, a blood clot which stops the heart from beating. She suffered 2 cardiac arrests which left her in a coma for 4 weeks. Thankfully Sam improved and was able to rejoin her family after 7 weeks of intense care.

A year to date Sam had the unfortunate news that she has now been diagnosed with advanced Pancreatic cancer which is currently inoperable until the chemotherapy and radiotherapy to reduce the size of the tumour.

Over the past 5 years Sam has undertaken endless fundraising events in Peterborough for local groups  which led her to win Pride of Peterborough 2013 and now an award for Outstanding Bravery in 2016.
