Tackling Loneliness in Scotland

Posted on

Mears Group, working with the Mears Foundation, has committed to supporting activities that seek to address isolation and loneliness. Mears is asking every Mears operation to take action in their community to help tackle this serious and growing social issue.

Branches are getting involved by holding social events with organisations such as Age UK who support isolated vulnerable people, vounteering at community cafes and lunch clubs etc.

In Scotland, Carole Gillies from Alva Scotland told us,

"We had a great day out to the Safari Park and the weather held out for us. The Stirling Older People team and the Clackmannanshire team went by bus and some of the support workers and service users from the Supported living team came by car. We provided a light lunch of sandwiches cakes crisps, tea, coffee etc. We receive a donation from Morrison supermarket of juice, cakes and crisps and the Mears Foundation donation helped to fund the trip".
