Glorious start to the spring walks

As the early spring sunshine gently light up the faces of the walkers they were all more then ready to embark on their 13 mile Water of Leith walk. Starting in Balerno and following the path of the old Balarno branch railway line to Colinton, which runs parallel to the river all the way to Leith.

The walk way showcases some interesting points such as Colinton Village and Dell, the Union Canal, Murrayfield Stadium and many more on the way to Leith. showing it's beauty  through wildflowers and many dramatic trees and iconic ancient woodlands, that housed homes for various wildlife such as  heron, dippers and kingfishers, all viewed on the day side by side with inquisitive nesting doe's,

All twenty-eight keen walkers from our Care, FM and Housing contract with 12 first year apprentices, all enjoyed the views and highlights on route, with an excellent lunch stop at the Murrayfield Bar, allowed us to refill and complete the walk in glorious Scottish sunshine.

Fabulous start to the Spring walks.

Thank you for the feedback Gerry Malone, from Mears Wishaw

Good luck to everyone who is taking part in the Mears Foundation Spring walks 2017
