Bob Holt - OBE, Chairman
Bob has been active in local communities since a very early age. The needs of the others were highlighted to Bob many years ago when organising a Christmas food collection project in a large industrial organisation where he was employed. Bob was inspired and moved by the care and commitment shown by the employees. Since then Bob's every day working life and charity work have been inextricably linked and he continues to commit a significant amount of his time to charity projects.
Jude has always been involved in community & charity projects since she was a Brownie. She has fund raised for a number of charities including the Cotswold Care Hospice, Cancer Research and Children in Need. She has taken part in a variety of community projects including creating a 'Magic Garden' for the Stepping Stones Playgroup and rejuvenating the "Lost Garden" at Dursley Primary School. Jude was inspired to do even more volunteering on a international project, undertaking improvement works at the Hopes and Dreams Community Village in Sri Lanka and since played a large part in getting The Mears Foundation set-up. Jude co-project managed The Mears Foundation's second international project in Benoni, South Africa and played a big part in the organisation of subsequent projects at Sithabile Child and Youth Care Centre, South Africa.
Diana is a passionate fund raiser and since joining Mears in 2008 has helped raise significant funds for many charities. Diane has taken part in several of the Mears charity walks over the years and been a volunteer on two international projects in South Africa. Diana really enjoys getting involved and supporting others and looks forward to helping the Foundation to achieve it's aims.
Kevin has been involved in community projects and fund raising since joining Mears in 2005. Kevin has always been involved in and over the last 5 years, organised, the Hadrian's wall walk. Kevin really enjoy getting involved and supporting those who need our help and has arranged many other fundraising activities at the Home Group Branch.
Paddy has raised money for several charities completing a range of activities including the 2012 London Marathon and Skydiving. Paddy's background is event management and he also holds media experience in working for three Premier League football Clubs. In the past two years Paddy has organised events for Myeloma UK, The Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and Ward 19 for Birmingham Heartlands Hospital raising over £10,000.
Gary joined Mears in 2014 and has been actively involved in driving the Social Value (Community Engagement) agenda over the past two years. Gary has worked across the Group to make it easy for all colleagues to get involved in community projects, give something back and make a positive difference. Personally, Gary is actively involved in raising money for The Kirsty Club, Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service and BRACE.
Paula has been involved wth raising money for different charities throughout her career. Just some of her events includes sleeping rough for one night to experience what the homeless experience, cycling from Manchester to Birmingham and doing sponsored walks. Paula finds raising money for charities and helping to make lives better for those in need, very rewarding. Activities such as helping school pupils to design, project manage and build an allotment; estate tidy ups and carrying out mock interviews with high school pupils, is important in helping the local communities.
Trina joined Mears in 2009 and worked within the Quality team for the care side of the business. Since that time she has worked her way through from Branch Manager to Operations Manager and currently overseas 9 branches within the East of the county. Trina also volunteered on Project South Africa 2013 and found the experience very rewarding.
